All Consumer Accounts Now Supported by Microsoft’s Passkey Feature

Microsoft recently announced that all consumer accounts will now be supported by its Passkey feature, a move aimed at enhancing security and convenience for users. This new feature will allow users to securely log in to their accounts using a unique passkey instead of a traditional password.

The Passkey feature works by generating a unique code that is sent to the user’s registered email or phone number. This code is then used to verify the user’s identity and grant access to their account. This method adds an extra layer of security as the passkey is only valid for a short period of time and cannot be reused.

One of the key benefits of the Passkey feature is that it eliminates the need for users to remember complex passwords. Instead, they can simply use the passkey sent to them each time they log in. This not only makes the login process more convenient but also reduces the risk of accounts being compromised due to weak or reused passwords.

In addition to enhancing security, the Passkey feature also offers added protection against phishing attacks. Since the passkey is sent directly to the user’s registered contact information, it is much harder for hackers to intercept and use it to gain unauthorized access to accounts.

Microsoft has been gradually rolling out the Passkey feature to its consumer accounts over the past few months, and now all users can take advantage of this added layer of security. To enable the Passkey feature, users simply need to go to their account settings and follow the prompts to set it up.

Overall, Microsoft’s Passkey feature represents a significant step forward in improving the security and convenience of consumer accounts. By eliminating the need for passwords and adding an extra layer of verification, users can rest assured that their accounts are better protected against unauthorized access.
